This is my fourth and final guide to Puerto Galera. I’ve already covered the nightlife & red light scene, the daytime attractions as well as the different transport options from Manila to Puerto Galera.
So the last topic you should really be well informed of before coming here would be suitable hotels for your stay.
But what means suitable? Well, pretty much 3 things:
Location, value for money, and guest-friendliness.
As for the location, you probably already know that all the action in terms of hookers and girly bars takes place in the beach town of Sabang. It’s a very small place where you can easily walk anywhere in maximum 20 minutes, so it doesn’t really matter where you stay in Sabang, as long as your hotel fulfills the other 2 requirements:
Value for money should be obvious not just for the single male traveler, but do make sure you book your room in a guest friendly hotel, means a place that won’t stop you taking a hot Filipina lady back to your room due to their “guest policies”. Even though Sabang as Puerto Galera’s prime mongering destination is pretty relaxed in this regards for the most part, there are a couple of more “traditional” hotels targeting divers who simply don’t allow prostitutes in their rooms.
That said, all of the following five hotels fulfill the 3 requirements:
Dream Hotel
I’ve personally stayed at the newly opened Dream Hotel and can tell you that it’s the perfect hotel for your sex trip to Puerto Galera. Firstly, it’s located right in the middle of the red light area behind the beach, while still being quiet enough to sleep well at night.
You would take an elevator to the upper floors and this way don’t even have to pass through the reception (which is on the fourth floor). Very discrete and you see mostly Korean guys taking in different young ladies from the bars every night (often even two at once).
Then you have a perfect value of about 65 USD per night for a Dream King Room with View like you can see in my picture above and video down at the end of the guide. And to make things even better, they have an atmospheric rooftop restaurant / bar with a pool table and really good food – which is otherwise rather difficult to find in Sabang.
Steps Garden Resort
This popular resort is situated a little bit up the hills, but still only 1-2 minutes walk down to the strip clubs and beach promenade. With prices of 50-55 USD for their popular Superior Rooms with balcony and sea view, this would definitely be my second choice in case the Dream Hotel (see above) is fully booked. Another plus of the Steps Garden Resort, besides that it’s guest friendly of course, is that they also own the popular “Tamarind” restaurant nearby, and the food can be delivered right to your room if you prefer to hang out on your balcony. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, they even have a beautiful pool that is very well maintained. Check out the pictures on Agoda.
Lalaguna Villas
The newly renovated Lalaguna Villas Luxury Dive Resort is not only what the name suggests: There aren’t only divers staying at this atmospheric hotel, but all different sorts of travelers including, yes, single men looking for company of sexy Filipina girls. And the term “luxury” may be slightly misleading as well, since even though the standard of the rooms and amenities is excellent (especially after the recent renovation), you don’t really pay “luxury room prices” here: A Standard Room comes in at about 60 USD per night and a Superior Studio at about 90 USD per night. Not bad at all, and that even includes free coffee and tea as well as access to their fitness center.
Mermaid Resort
Located just off the busy main street in Sabang, the Mermaid Resort is a great option if you prefer to stay a little away from the beach and nightlife area – however, it’s still only a 4-5 minute walk to all the action. Just keep in mind that there can instead be some noise from the traffic, as it’s situated right by the busy intersection of the town center. It might be a good idea to request a room that doesn’t face the street. Popular room options at the Marmaid include Superior Deluxe for about 60 USD per night and Pool Suite for about 90 USD per night. The bar girls will know this place and happily join you here.
Seashore Beach Resort
If you insist on staying right at the beach promenade of Sabang, the Seashore Beach Resort might be for you: Even though it’s not nearly as nice as the first three hotels on this list, it actually has the highest number of reviews on Agoda (more than 2,500!). So yes, this is a very popular hotel, and part of the reason, besides the location of course, is that it has Ocean View Rooms for just 40 USD. That’s quite a steal, and if you are a sex tourist, you’ll also appreciate the fact that it’s only 300 meters to the famous nightlife strip with all its lady bars.
